You’ll be photographing a range of still subjects including people (still portraits), all sort of objects from candles and statues to market stalls (still life), Little India’s street scenes and murals, and some of the wonderfully-colorful architecture.
The first 3 workshops take place in the classroom where you’ll apply the techniques you learn during both indoor and outdoor photo shoots.
The last workshop takes place entirely on location. You’ll photograph in a Hindu temple, and a market, and we’ll venture off the beaten track to discover some hidden gems in the back streets of Little India.
Karen Lucas has ignited in me a new passion for photography and unraveled all the mysteries of camera buttons! I’ll highly recommend her to all my Singapore friends and overseas visitors. A great way to learn skills and see more of our photogenic city. Loved the Beginners Course!

You’ll be photographing a range of still subjects including people (still portraits), all sort of objects from candles and statues to market stalls (still life), Little India’s street scenes and murals, and some of the wonderfully-colorful architecture.
The first 3 workshops take place in the classroom where you’ll apply the techniques you learn during both indoor and outdoor photo shoots.
The last workshop takes place entirely on location. You’ll photograph in a Hindu temple, and a market, and we’ll venture off the beaten track to discover some hidden gems in the back streets of Little India.

Having grown up in Africa, Karen is a passionate animal-lover and wildlife photographer with a wealth of experience photographing animals in their natural habitat. Expect lots of practical tips and examples of how to cope with the different scenarios you’re likely to come across in the wild.
The Singapore Zoo is a brilliant location to observe and capture an impressive variety of wildlife, the perfect training ground for your next safari adventure.
We’ll study animal behaviour and learn how to work with light and shadow, incorporating texture and contrast to create a series of stunning wildlife photos. We’ll also be on the lookout for a bit of wild action and we’ll get the camera set up so we’re ready to capture those split-second moments!
Your instructor will guide you through using the right technical settings for each animal and scene and will review your photos and give tips on composition and creativity.

You’ll be photographing a range of still subjects including people (still portraits), all sort of objects from candles and statues to market stalls (still life), Little India’s street scenes and murals, and some of the wonderfully-colorful architecture.
The first 3 workshops take place in the classroom where you’ll apply the techniques you learn during both indoor and outdoor photo shoots.
The last workshop takes place entirely on location. You’ll photograph in a Hindu temple, and a market, and we’ll venture off the beaten track to discover some hidden gems in the back streets of Little India.
Karen Lucas has ignited in me a new passion for photography and unraveled all the mysteries of camera buttons! I’ll highly recommend her to all my Singapore friends and overseas visitors. A great way to learn skills and see more of our photogenic city. Loved the Beginners Course!

We’ll start the walk in some quirky alleys with unusual and colourful views of the Sultan Mosque. Then we’ll following a meandering trail around the neighbourhood, taking in the unique architecture and sights, including the beautiful Mosque, which we’ll capture during the famous ‘blue hour’.
Every time we stop at a scene, Karen will share her recommendations for camera settings, lens choice and creative framing options. She’ll often demonstrate how to best capture the scene to get you started and then she’ll come around whenever time permits to check on your progress, see if you need help, and give you 1-to-1 feedback on your photos.
We’ll end the walk in the uber-trendy and fiercely-colourful Haji Lane which is one of our top places in Singapore to photograph at night.

The Arab Quarter is one of our favourite places in Singapore to photograph people so you’ll be meeting the locals and we’re going to help you get over your shyness of approaching and photographing complete strangers.
We’ll visit the beautiful Sultan Mosque and then explore the neighbourhood on a circular route which takes in some stunning street art, trendy boutiques and cafes, and traditional shops selling spices, perfumes, textiles, basketry items and Arabian rugs.
Bring a range of lenses from wide angle to telephoto as you’ll be able to use them all on this walk.

You’ll be photographing a range of still subjects including people (still portraits), all sort of objects from candles and statues to market stalls (still life), Little India’s street scenes and murals, and some of the wonderfully-colorful architecture.
The first 3 workshops take place in the classroom where you’ll apply the techniques you learn during both indoor and outdoor photo shoots.
The last workshop takes place entirely on location. You’ll photograph in a Hindu temple, and a market, and we’ll venture off the beaten track to discover some hidden gems in the back streets of Little India.

Join Photographer Karen Lucas for a sunrise Photo Walk at Gardens by the Bay and learn hands-on how to capture Singapore’s iconic landmarks and architectural marvels in the beautiful dawn light.
Gardens by the Bay is a fantastic location to be photographing at sunrise during the magical blue ‘hour’. The waters of Marina Bay tend to be still in the early morning – enabling us to capture gorgeous reflections of Singapore’s iconic skyline. We may also be lucky enough to enjoy clear and weather and vibrant blue skies after sunrise – optimal conditions for photographing Singapore’s urban landscapes and unique architecture.
We’ve already mapped out several fabulous shoot locations where you’ll capture stunning views of the Supertree Grove, Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, the Art Science Museum, and the CBD.
Every time we stop at a scene, Karen will share her recommendations for camera settings, lens choice and creative framing options. The highlight of this photo shoot are the fabulous views from the Marina Barrage and various vantage points within the gardens. The gardens, Marina Bay Sands, and the city will all be beautifully lit just after sunrise and we’ll capture a fabulous series of urban landscape photos.
We’ll also photograph the iconic Supertrees and Domes (bring an ultra wide angle lens!), and some of the beautiful garden scenes.
We will be covering a lot of ground so please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a snack and water.

This is a hands-on Lightroom Workshop where you’ll be working on your own laptop and your own version of Lightroom.
We’ll give you catalogs and photos to work on during the workshop and we’ll guide you step-by-step through each new tool and technique so that you learn by doing.
You’ll need to bring:
- A laptop with Lightroom 4 or higher or Lightroom CC Classic (NOT Lightroom CC!!!!!) already installed and running
- 3 photos that you’d like to edit/enhance/rescue using Lightroom’s Develop module (JPEG or RAW)
- Power Supply for laptop
- External mouse if you have one
- USB Port as your practical exercises will be provided on a USB stick
If you are new to Lightroom and plan on purchasing it, make sure your purchase the Adobe Photography Plan which includes Lightroom Classic CC (to be installed on your laptop), Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom CC (can be installed on your mobile devices like phone or ipad) and Photoshop Express (can be installed on your mobile devices like phone or ipad)

Join the Advanced Photography Workshop and learn how to optimise the settings on your mirrorless, compact or DSLR camera so that you can shoot faster and reduce editing time.
In this module you’ll revise the essential camera functionality before being introduced to the Manual Exposure Mode (M) which sounds complicated, but is actually quite simple if you follow the right steps.
You’ll also learn a fun technique to take your creativity to the next level, some cool camera customisations to save you time, and quick camera settings for capturing different subjects.
We’ll end off the class with a sensor cleaning demonstration so you’ll be able to get rid of those pesky sensor dust spots while traveling.

Explore Little India’s Serangoon Road, the bustling temporary markets, and a temple during this vibrant Hindu festival and learn how to capture the lights, the people, the markets and the action at sunset and into the night.
We’ve mapped out a richly-varied walk route that starts near the upper end of Serangoon Road where we’ll capture great photos of the beautiful street decorations during the magical blue ‘hour’. We’ll then proceed to one of the elaborately-decorated Hindu temples where you’ll witness some of the rituals taking place during this period, with lots of great photo opportunities. Finally we’ll finish in a traditional Deepavali market, with yet more fabulously-colourful photo opportunities!
There will be times when we’ll photograph together as a group, but you’ll also have the opportunity to shoot individually and experiment creatively.
The movement and low light levels will challenge your camera and your ability to adjust settings quickly enough to capture the moment. But don’t worry if your camera skills are a bit rusty… every time we stop at a scene, Karen will share her recommendations for camera settings, lens choice and creative framing options. She’ll often demonstrate how to best capture the scene to get you started and then she’ll come around whenever time permits to check on your progress, see if you need help, and give you 1-to-1 feedback on your photos.

The highlights of this festival are the beautiful street decorations which light up Serangoon Road, the very colourful markets and elaborately decorated temples.
You’ll have endless opportunities to work on your landscape, travel, people, and candid street photography skills.
